The most efficient way to heat your pool

Compared to electric resistance heaters or gas boilers, a heat pump is the only solution that combines efficiency, longevity and low running costs.

80% cheaper than electric resistance

A heat pump doesn't generate heat — it transfers it from the air to the water. For every 1 kWh consumed, it produces up to 5 kWh of heat.

COP up to 5.0

Stable temperature — even in wind

Maintains your desired temperature regardless of the time of day or weather conditions. No sudden fluctuations.

Common questions

What size heat pump do I need for my pool?
It depends on the water volume, your location (minimum ambient temperature), the nighttime cover used and your target temperature. For a 30m³ pool near the Lisbon coast, a unit of 8–12 kW is usually enough. Larger volumes or colder inland locations may require more power. The free site visit calculates this exactly.
How long does it take to heat the pool for the first time?
For a pool starting from cold, it typically takes 2 to 5 days to reach 28°C, depending on volume and outdoor temperature. Once the temperature is stable, the pump only needs to maintain it — consumption drops significantly compared to the initial heating phase.
Does the heat pump work on cloudy days or in cold weather?
Yes. Pool heat pumps operate from as low as 7°C ambient temperature, and the most efficient models work down to -5°C. In mainland Portugal, that means they can run virtually all year — unlike solar thermal, which depends on solar radiation.
Can I add a heat pump to an existing pool?
Yes, in the vast majority of cases. The heat pump integrates into the existing filtration circuit with no major building work needed. You just need space near the pump room and adequate electrical supply. The site visit confirms this quickly.
How much does it cost to install a pool heat pump?
The investment varies depending on the required output, brand and installation conditions. Simple projects can start from €2,500–€3,500 (equipment + labour). For larger pools or more complex installations, the quote is personalised. The site visit is free and the quote carries no obligation.
Are there any grants or incentives available?
Yes. There are energy efficiency support programmes that can subsidise part of the investment in high-COP equipment. We'll advise you on available incentives for your specific situation during the site visit.
